I would have to say that one of my favoritest things to do is paint. I've been doing it since I was 2 years old. Of course, back then, it was mostly finger painting and "abstracts". And to be honest, sometimes I'd end up with more paint on myself than on the paper, but it was fun expressing my creativity. I've always loved mixing colors and making new ones. Sometimes getting the right shade of blue or the perfect pink can be quite a challenge. For the past couple years, I've been taking art classes at Mission Renaissance. I have learned a lot about shapes, textures and tones. I started out in step drawing. That is when you put together different shapes to create a picture; a circle for the head, a rectangle for the body and triangles for the ears. Then you smooth out the lines and blend them together. I've gone from sketching and working in pastels onto watercolors. Painting in watercolors is actually a lot harder than you might think. You have to learn how to control the colors so they don't run all over your canvas. It took me a few weeks just to learn the washes; flat wash, graduated, transitional and wet on wet. Now that I've figured that out, I think watercolor is my favorite medium so far. The next step for me is oil painting. I can't wait! It should be fun. My art work sure has come a long way since those early abstracts. See for yourself. Click the link to the right to view the Art Gallery.
